Day at the Races

Forgot to mention my fab day in the luxury box seats at Arlington Racetrack earlier this month. Bob and I bet on a horse named "Who Let the Cat In?" parodying the song, "Who Let the Dogs Out?"

Of course the horse lost. Didn't win a damn thing all afternoon.

Attack of the Cicadas

The cicadas are burrowing their way up from their 17-year gestation around the Chicago area, and boy are they freaky. They essentially climb up trees and then explode, emerging from their own cocoon bodies as new bugs, leaving their six-legged exoskeletons clinging to tree trunks. They're supposed to be harmless, but in the masses that they emerge, they're kind of freaky. Here are a few shots of them from the tree in front of my office. Yuck.

Fab Night Atop the City

Our Sex Police reunion party last night was terrific. The view was stunning at night with the city all lit up on that rooftop at the lake. The highlight was our Trivia Game that we had Vanessa and Kelli host (as "Dr. Love No. 1 and No. 2"). Everyone got into the excitement of it.

We had old videos playing on the wall and then later, a fashion show featuring a condom skirt as well as runway fashions from Kevin Vong, a member of Asians and Friends.

But I forgot to take pictures. Rats! You have to believe me when I say we had a great time ...

Sex Police Reunion this Saturday

School Street Arts Movement, the AIDS-awareness charity I started in 1992 is celebrating its 15th year with a party on the rooftop of a lakefront high-rise in downtown Chicago. Cast members from our "Sex Police" show will be coming back to reunite. It'll be pretty nifty with the view of the city and all the memorabilia we'll be gathering. We've got a funky fashion show combining red-carpet gowns with cartoony costumes from our health-and-safety shows, as well as a pop-culture trivia quiz show to stir the pot.

The festivities will start at 8 p.m. Sat., May 19, 2007. What I'm posting here is a photo from the past of me doing the show (must have been in the 1990s). Let me know if you want to come!

Killer Karaoke

Our Asians and Friends group had a Karaoke night at @mosphere on the north side last month. I didn't get any shots of me singing, but I did get my Tom Jones on ...

Hawaii Highlights

I'm just now getting around to posting a few photos from my April trip to Hawaii. My cousin Maria got married on Kauai and I was able to hang with family in Honolulu after that. What I've got photos of is the wedding rehearsal dinner on Poipu Beach in Kauai and then Kauai's Waimea Canyon. I also have the cutest photos of my little niece and nephews. Then there's one with my Los Angeles cousins when we all rode around Oahu (we found the Mecca of pies, Ted's Bakery on the North Shore). Enjoy!
