Fondue Party at Work!

We had a fondue party where I work to celebrate three birthdays. We had three cheese and two chocolate fondues. Our stomachs growled in a good way later.

September Weekend Fun: The Videos

Some video emerges from the fun from last weekend. First up is footage from my friend Rob the bass player in the Paul Coady Band at the Phyllis Musical Inn.

Here's footage of some of the gang at Tom's Karaoke Birthday! They're doing the forbidden dance.

Tom's Karaoke Birthday

Had a ball at Tom's Karaoke birthday party yesterday, complete with fun balloon art by another pal Ruben. About 10 of us sang it out in a private party room at Lincoln Karaoke. Good times had by all.

Rock 'N Roll Saturday

Had a jammin' Saturday watching a pal's band play at the Phyllis Musical Inn in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Had great eats too at Smoke Daddy next door.

Playing with Al

Had a wonderful time this week hanging out with a childhood friend, my pal Al from Hawaii. He actually lives in Carpetneria, Calif., now and was in town for work. We had a couple of bites together--this one at Dixie Kitchen in Evanston--and had Ethiopian food last night (and a little dancing!). He's back off to the West Coast today. Safe travels Al!

Chicago Symphony in the Park

My virgin time for sitting in Millenium Park and listening to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. We have a new conductor: Riccardo Muti. His name was in lights on the skyscraper behind the concert stage.

Swagger Hair Battle

When I was in Savannah for work, the Swagger Hair Battle between hair stylists was scheduled at the same hotel I was staying at. Here's a guy who let me take a picture of him. Not sure what the theme is beyond a dude with green hair ...

Savannah: Put Some South in Your Mouth!

I was in Savannah, Ga., for a couple of days interviewing a convenience-store retailer and my co-worker and I took some time to take in the sights. Among them: the River Street walk, trees with hanging moss and Paul Dean's restaurant and store. Paula's an unashamed, Southern-style, home-cooking chef with a TV show and lots of personality. She's always asking viewers to "Put some South in your mouth."

Bahamas Cruise!

I just got back from a cruise to the Bahamas with folks from Asians and Friends and Long Yang Club. Here are a few shots of me on the private island of CocoCay; shots of our home-made, final-dinner "extravaganza;" and then the Atlantis Hotel on Nassau. Had a great time!
