Mega Opera

Bob and I have to start training to sit in our opera seats for five hours. Every season, one opera is a marathon--typically three intermissions. They even sell box lunches and people spread out blankets in the halls and eat picnic style. This year, the opera is Tristan and Isolde and we have tickets for tomorrow (Sat. Feb. 28). We're doing our stretches and preparing our butts for a long haul.

Red Carpet Mayhem

What a wonderful time I had at my friends' house on Oscar night. We brought several different sets of clothes and played Oscar games--who would you cast as you and I can name more musicals than you. Us musical-theater types loved Hugh Jackman and while I didn't win the Oscar-guessing, I did win some snazzy glasses!

Post Oscar Blahs

My biggest questions is why does Oscar night have to be on a Sunday? It ends so late and if you want to have any fun, it means being at work the next day when you ought to be at home in bed.

I'll post a few fun pics later ...

My Boss Kissed Me Today

Yep. Kind of funny. I was on a conference call this morning and couldn't hear the speaker well because people were dialing in and out. So I got up to close the door in my office to hear better. I began reaching with my foot (still trying to keep the phone in my ear) and I'm pushing the door shut but it won't close. I realize my boss, Paul, who is based in New York, is in and trying to get in my office to see me. Whoops.

He realizes I'm on a call and says he'll say hi later.

Well, I get off the call and seek him out. He's just starting to talk with Heather, another co-worker, and he shakes her hand and gives her a kiss on the cheek. I say, "Hey Paul, where's my kiss?" And I motion to my cheek.

He leans over and kisses me on the cheek. Fuzzy white beard and all.

That was hot.

Ha-ha hot, I mean.

Not hot hot.

Not Auditioning

It'll be a good year of not auditioning. I've been seeing postings for auditions at the different community theaters that I frequent, but I'm holding back. A fellow dancer asked me the other day if I was auditioning for anything or if I had any shows coming up. I said, "Yes, it's called 'Angel's Finances' and I have to start performing!"

Co-worker's First Blood Niece

Greg, the guy in the cubicle next to me, had the welcomed news of his first niece (or any baby for that matter) by his sister (his only blood sibling). Isn't she cute?

Another Valentine's Day Dinner Around the Corner

Guess who was having Valentine's Day dinner around the corner from where Bob and I were last night? We were delayed in getting to our restaurant, Tsunami, because a bunch of police were trying to fit their cars into an alley. Then when we left, we noticed a bunch of people just standing outside a restaurant. Well, it was Table 52, run by a former chef of Oprah's. Small world. Me, Bob and the leader of the Free World.

Valentine's Dinner

Bob and I went to our favorite "special occasion" place for dinner, a Japanese restaurant called "Tsunami" in the Rush Street area. I have to say, the oyster shooters hit the spot (with a surprise dash of fish eggs at the bottom). We ate too much sushi and I had to bring some of my seared ahi home. But it'll make a nice breakfast with eggs! Happy Valentine's!

Seared ahi.

Lycheetini.

Here's Bob and his bento.

Footage of Cosmo Cover Shoot

Here's a glimpse of my glamorous life. It's video we shot from my digital camera documenting our "Cosmo" style cover shoot last Friday. We had a lot of fun and are certain we nailed it.

Cosmo-style Photo Shoot

Friday I have the fun task of overseeing the cover shoot for our magazine. It'll be different because we're doing a take-off of a Cosmo cover using a model. We'll be doing her hair and make-up and trying to get a come-hither look. I'll bring a fan.

The cover story is about staying relevant with the consumer so the headlines will be about "25 Ways to Keep the Romance Alive." We had a great time looking over Cosmo issues for ideas. The one that cracked us up was "Inside His Pants: The 7 Sensations He Enjoys Most."

These include:

The S-Stroke Scratch. (It involves scratching his back in an "S" motion.)
A Tight Grip.
and Alternating Hot and Cold.

I suppose ...
